12 Spice Gut Healing Soup
Gut health is an integral part of the foundation of your health. The interesting thing, is when most people are asked,
"Do you have digestive imbalances?" The answer is,
"No!"
I've always found this quite peculiar because the reality is if you have suffered from any one of these symptoms, there is a good chance your digestive system needs a little lovin'.
skin issues (eczema, psoriasis)
gas
bloating
irregular bowel movements (including constipation and diarrhea)
hormone imbalances
candida
inflammation
IBD (IBS, crohn's, colitis)
allergies and food intolerances
asthma
autoimmune disease
fatigue
bad breath
anemia
brittle nails
arthritis
And truthfully the list could go on! Now, I'm not sure about you, but I can't say I have met one person that has not experienced at least one of these symptoms. The problem is, some of these seem far away from the gut and putting two and two together isn't a clear line. Let me break it down for you.
Like the gas tank is to your car, the digestive system is to your body. If your digestive system is compromised, know that foods will not be being broken down optimally, reducing absorption of nutrients and leaving the rest of your systems nutrient depleted.
There are so many variables when it comes to ailments, but the best way to build a strong structure is by starting at the foundation and that is your digestive system!
So, if it is in fact true that we all have some digestive work to do, where should is the best place to start?
With food! Removing food sensitivities is key to reducing inflammation so the body is not in a constant fight or flight response to invading foods, toxins and bugs! Second, add in the good stuff!
Cabbage is a fabulous gut healing food rich in l-glutamine an amino acid used by the body to heal and repair muscle such as your gut lining. In cases of leaky gut and ulcers, l-glutamine can be supplemented and consumed through food sources. Adding cabbage to your soups is one easy way to consume l-glutamine through a food source.
