Homemade Doritos In 20 Minutes
I am so freaking excited to share this recipe with you. I have made a few batches now and every time I go back, I swear they taste better. These will definitely nip your Doritos craving in the butt! You see, Doritos and I really can't be friends. There is just something that comes over me when I eat them and I just. can't. stop! I know I can't be the only one. Whenever I want to swap or drop a food there are only two ways that really work for me, research the effects and consequences of eating that particular food so that I no longer want to eat it or find a damn good tasty replacement. So let's get right to business with this gluten free, dairy free baked Doritos replacement recipe that can be made in next to NO TIME.... you're welcome!
I used Food For Life's Sprouted Corn Tortillas. While making my first batch, I made the mistake of picking up some corn tortillas at my local grocery store, got home, cooked them up, ate them like a crazy woman and then realized when I had a small gluten baby in my tummy... ouch! Eric and I both paid for that first round. That same day we picked up these at our local health food store. Moral of the story, look for gluten free, good quality options like Food For Life's.
Honestly the seasoning for these is absolutely delish and is made 100% from my spice/herb pantry. I have since added them to homemade popcorn too, just as fabulous so keep the extra seasoning.
Homemade Doritos In 20 Minutes
Ingredients:
Nacho Cheeze seasoning:
1/2 cup nutritional yeast (this gives your cheeze flavour)
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tbsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. salt
KOOL Ranch :
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp. dried parsley
1 tbsp dried chives
1/2 tsp. salt
Chip:
2 packages of corn tortillas (usually 6 per package and we will use one package per flavour)
2 tbsp. olive oil
Method:
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine seasoning ingredients for your flavour of choice in a high speed blender to combine and create an even-sized powder.
Cut tortillas into 10 pizza like slices. I used a pizza slicer. Worked like a charm.
In a medium sized bowl drizzle 2 tbsp. of olive oil over your chips and place on your baking sheet.
Pick your seasoning of choice and coat both sides of your chips. The more the better ;)
Place in the oven for 7 mins. and then flip.
Place back in oven watching closely for another 5-7 minutes, watching carefully not to burn. Remember we are going for a toasted texture and not burnt, these babies turn quickly on you. The darker the chip the harder it is, don't be afraid to taste test to get your desired texture as your cooking.
Cool and enjoy!
